Every person is driven by two unseen forces: what they’re seeking and what they’re avoiding.

These twin drives influence every decision, reaction, and conversation.

Let’s explore the behaviors that feed and repel each of the styles:

🦅 Confident and take-charge Eagles want control. They aim to lead, decide, and make things happen. Beneath that desire is a fear of weakness or failure—the feeling of being powerless.

🦜 Enthusiastic and social Parrots seek connection and fun. They thrive on laughter, ideas, and people. Hidden beneath that joy is a fear of rejection or boredom—the fear of losing the energy that keeps them inspired.

🕊 Caring and helpful Doves want harmony. They seek peace, belonging, and kindness. But they fear conflict or disapproval—the sense that connection might break.

🦉Logical and inquisitive Owls crave certainty. They find confidence in clarity and accuracy. Yet they fear being wrong or unprepared—the feeling of letting details slip.

When you understand what someone’s seeking, their behavior makes sense. The Eagle’s assertiveness isn’t arrogance, it’s drive. The Parrot’s chatter isn’t distraction, it’s connection. The Dove’s quiet isn’t withdrawal, it’s presence. The Owl’s questioning isn’t criticism, it’s curiosity.

When you understand what motivates people, you stop taking their behavior personally. You begin to see the human being behind the habit.

And when you understand what drives you, you gain the freedom to choose your response instead of reacting out of fear.

So, the next time someone’s behavior confuses you, pause and ask: What are they seeking and what they trying to avoid?

That’s where understanding begins.
